About The Camps

Are you looking for an exciting outdoor adventure opportunity for your children this summer?  MMMUSD Summer Camps were designed with that focus in mind.  Our camps provide high quality camp experiences with a local drop off and pick up location in Richmond to make access to camps as easy as possible for families.

Our staff is made up of licensed teachers who are passionate about helping kids be active outdoors. Our camps are designed to have a low student to adult ratio with each camp having a capacity of 30 children to allow for a safer and calmer camp experience. Our mission is to inspire your kids to be healthy and active not only for the summer but for the rest of their lives.

During your child's camp experience he or she will get to explore some of the many outdoor treasures that Vermont has to offer.  We will take scenic bike rides, hike, swim, paddle board, and explore nature in many of the most beautiful destinations in the state.  Camp is open to a large diversity of ages and ability levels (6-14).  There are beginner to advanced options in all of our destinations to meet the needs of many different ability levels for our campers.  Lastly, all proceeds from our camps will go to fund the Snow Motion Program at Cochran's Ski Area, which provides free skiing/snowboarding to MMMUSD students.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does camp cost?

A week long camp is $425.  Please email brian.godfrey@mmuusd.org about scholarships.

Where do we meet and pick up?

Camp runs from 8:00-4:00 The drop off and pick up for Camps will be at the Volunteers Green Park in Richmond just before the bridge.  Pick up will be at Richmond Elementary School. I will email you if there are any changes in these locations.

What kind of bike is recommended

A properly sized and working bike with front and rear hand brakes and gears.  There will be loner bikes available if needed, but please let us know if you need a bike prior to camp.

What happens if it rains

The underlying theme of all our camps is to be outside as much as possible.  .We might rearrange our schedule or choose an alternative activity but we will never cancel a day of camp due to rain.

What about food/lunch?

All campers should bring their own lunch.  Please bring a lunch and water bottle.  We recommend packing extra food as kids often get very hungry.  There will be popsicles and extra water available for campers.

How do you handle having campers of differing abilities and ages?

We split campers into groups depending on the skill and ability level.  One priority is having campers in groups with their friends.  Another priority is to keep the groups small, usually around 5 campers for 1 counselor.  Lastly, every activity that we will be doing will have beginner and intermediate options to meet the ability level of every camper.

Does my child need to be an experienced biker?

No, they simply need be able to ride a bicycle safely without training wheels.

During the week we work on how to shift the gears properly and how to use brakes efficiently and safely. We teach them how to ride safely on the street and on trails by learning what to look for while riding and how to maneuver in the safest manner possible.

The camp is about giving each rider the confidence to feel better about how they are riding. This camp isn't about riding fast, but instead having fun and learning to ride.
